+ Are these classes right for me?
You've danced before but it's been a really long time --> Yup.
You've never danced before --> Yup.
You're a dude --> Yup.
You believe you're too old / too curvy / too amateur / not flexible enough --> Yup.
So yeah, you belong right here with us!
+ Can I get a trial class?
Yes! Simply purchase a spontaneous class online or at the studio.
+ Why isn't it free?
Because we can't give away our work for free. We have to pay our teachers! However, we'll make sure you get your money's worth!
+ What should I wear? Do you sell ballet shoes?
Yes, we have ballet shoes! AS for your outfit, just choose something comfy that makes you feel fierce! Leggings and tank-tops or leotard and thights: everything will do. You also need socks, a reusable water bottle and hair ties. A yoga mat can be nice for yoga (obviously) as well as for Corps de ballet, Stretch and Barre au sol.
+ What happens if I cancel my class after the 12-hour notice?
We're very sorry that you had to miss class (really). We know sometimes it's just impossible. However, we ask for that 12-hour notice in order to give your spot to someone on the waitlist when you can't be there. When we have less than a 12-hour notice (or none at all!) it really sucks for those on the waitlist - and for us. That's why your class is lost but no worries, we know you'll pick up fast next time - and we can help with that :)
+ Do I absolutely have to book in advance?
It's a two-step process: purchasing your membership/card, then booking your classes. Once you've purchased your card or membership, you can book all the classes you want in one shot, or book them as you go, but some classes get filled up pretty quickly - weeknights, saturdays. It's better to book to be sure, and you can still change your mind up to 12 hours before your class!
+ Are the class cards refundable?
Our class cards are non-refundable, but they never expire. Our memberships can be cancelled - cancellation fees will apply. we strongly suggest that you try a spontaneous class (or two) before committing to a membership.
+ Which class would you recommend to start at Ballet Hop?
All of our classes are multi-level - so they're for everybody (apart from Moyenne and Presque Grande technique which are more advanced than Petite technique). With your card/membership, you have access to all our classes so feel free to try them all! If you have a medical condition, we're not qualified to determine if ballet's suitable for your needs or not. Make sure you ask your healthcare specialist, they're the boss!
+ Will I be able to join a class even in the middle of a season?
Yup! Our classes are adapted for drop-ins and people who are joining at any moment. Of course, we learn new things and build on progress during the year, so allow yourself a few weeks to pick up and feel really comfortable with the exercises - especially if you're new to ballet! Never hesitate to ask for help during or after class, we're here for you!
+ How does the waitlist work?
When a class is full, you can still click on it to be added to the waitlist. The waitlist will send you an e-mail as soon as a spot becomes available. If you receive nothing, it's because there were no cancellation, but no worries, you haven't lost your class! Once you get the email, you have 24 hours to reply with the confirmation that you'll take the class. You can be confident that your class is booked as soon as you have sent your email (even if it says otherwise in your account - we have to manually check a box everytime that happens and we're usually pretty busy!) Also, make sure you've agreed to receive our emails in your Ballet Hop! account (and in your inbox)!
+ Is it hard to park near the mile-end studio?
We don't have a designated parking, but you there are a few parking meters in the streets around the studio. There is also free parking spots in some parallel streets. We made you a little map to help you here!
